Charles served in the Armed Forces and with VIA for 30 years. He was a loving father, friendly to all, giving to all.
Charles was preceded in death by his siblings,"Sonny" Thomas Burkes, James Daniel Burkes, Jackie Burkes, Sylvia Burkes and "Tootie" Myrtle Burkes.
He is survived by his wife, Amelia "Amy" Rivera; son, Charles Otey Burkes, Jr.; daughter, Dawn Shawnee Burkes; son, Michael Angelo Burkes; daughters, Dana Lee Burkes Keene and Marissa Nicole Burkes Jinkoji; son, Charles Adrian Burkes; stepson, Brian Kevin Rivera; sister, Bessie Burks; brother-in-friendship, Al Cannaby and his "daughterly"niece, Alisia Johnson. Our thanks go out to the staff of Christus Santa Rosa Westover Hills.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring
