Cecilia Gonzales

Cecilia Ruiz Gonzales, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother joined our heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the age of 94. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren at her home residence of 73 years when the Lord called her home. She was born on September 4, 1922 in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Roque Ruiz and Josefina Gusman. She grew up in DeMoine, Iowa and in Monterrey, Mexico. She lived the majority of her life in San Antonio. Survived by her children - Josephine Gonzales, Jose Alejandro Gonzales (Cecilia), Armando Gonzales (Blanca), Thelma Echiveste (Albert), Rosary Michaels, Mariana Lozano (Rodrigo), Tina Ramon, George Gonzales (Josie), Diana Diaz (Joseph), Arturo Gonzales (Margaret), Honorary Son Augustine DeLeon, 17 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren, brother Ramon Ruiz (Shela),sister-in law Tomasita Esquivel, brother in-law Jesus Gonzalez, numerous nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by husband Jose C. Gonzalez, sons Jesus Gonzales and Rolando Gonzales. She was a Guadalupana at San Juan De Los Lagos Catholic Church for many years. Often adoped stray dogs in the neighborhood. In her younger years would babysit her grandchildren while her daughters worked. She loved playing Bingo, Crochet and reading romance novels. She enjoyed family outings at San Pedro Park. In her later years, her happiness was playing Mexican Loteria during the weekend after having dinner with her children. She played Mexican Loteria until this past Thanksgiving, shortly before she was hospitalized. She would pray the rosary until the last day for each of her children, grandchildren and friends. She would often pray the Rosary for anyone she would hear was ill and always would say a Novena for the deceased. She will be missed dearly by her children and grandchildren and will forever live in our hearts. The Family would like to give a special thank you to daughters, Tina Ramon and Josephine Gonzales; daughter-in-law, Josie Gonzales for the care they gave our mother.
