Born in Montgomery, West Virginia on April 5, 1949, she was the daughter of Frank Gilbert and Anna Frances Harvey Gilbert.
Cathy's life revolved around her two great loves: her faith and her family. She was a devoted member of University Baptist Church of San Antonio for 34 years. She taught the kindergarten Sunday School class and was known for her gentle, loving nature and amazing rapport with the children, She used her creative abilities to engage the children in Vacation Bible School, and she never missed the Church-wide Bible Studies that were offered, often taking her granddaughters who could also participate. Her beautiful voice and enthusiasm for music made her a welcome member of the church choir. She was a ready participant in the Mission ministry, journeying to Peru and the Andes mountains for week-long building projects. In recent years, she has faithfully attended the prayer quilt ministry group, helping to design quilts for church members, family and friends. The church has provided her with many opportunities to demonstrate her love.
To her family members, Cathy's life of faith and her dedication to her children have been a blessing and an inspiration. She was consistent in her efforts to love and support her children, her siblings, and her family of friends. She gave generously to all.
