Carrie Sue Mangum entered into life in Big Spring, Texas on August 03, 1937 to Mr. and Mrs. Carmel Doyle and Joycie Marie Lawson. Carrie was called to the Lord on Friday, July 7, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85.
Left behind to cherish Carrie's memory is her daughter Ressie M. Mangum; granddaughter Jessica R. Green and her husband Justin J. Green, their two sons Westin J. Green, age 8, and Aiden C. Green, age 5. She is preceded in passing by her husband, Charles D. Mangum who passed on November 15, 1997, and her son Chris D. Mangum who passed on February 10, 2022.
Carrie graduated from Big Spring High School. She was an accomplished singer who loved to sing and listen to music. She was also a seamstress and a wonderful cook. Carrie loved to write poems, garden, and decorate her home. She could also draw very well. Carrie enjoyed the outdoors, visiting National Parks. She called it "God's beautiful creations." Carrie was a devoted Christian woman who loved going to church and who loved God.
Carrie was beautiful inside and out. She stood out in life for her powerful angelic voice. She used her gift to sing in the church choirs and would have her own solos. She also sang for weddings and funerals upon request. Carrie loved to laugh.
Carrie was a devoted wife and married her childhood sweetheart, Charles. They were married for 43 years until his death at the age of 60. She never married again. She was a devoted daughter and mother, and she will be deeply missed.
A visitation for Carrie will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. Following the visitation will be a committal service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266.
