Carmen Smith, age 81, passed away on November 15, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on July 16, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas. Carmen was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Carmen and her husband Carlois owned the Smith Landscaping company for many years and were recognized as experts in their field which was transplanting large trees. Carmen was also a lifelong member of the Turner Bowling club where she was known for her fundraising talent. Until her death, her passion was helping those in need and adopting stray dogs which she nurtured back to health and treated as part of her family.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Carlois Smith and her son, Steve Casas. She is survived by her son, Arthur Casas (Grace); her grandchildren Crystal Casas (Adam Torres), Stephanie Hinojo (Shawn), and Zachary Casas (Jasmine); and her great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Isabella, and Calum.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1st from 10-11 am in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a Funeral Service to be held at 11:00 am. The burial will follow at 12:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Park.
