Carmen M. Morales, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully joined the Lord in Heaven on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. She was 88 years old. Carmen was born on July 16, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas, in the close-knit community of Bergs Mill, to Domingo and Lucia Huerta.
Carmen is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Francisco M. Morales; her parents; and her sister Josephine Duncan. She is survived by her loving sister Eva Serenil, her daughters Evangelina Jimenez and Norma Jean Morales-Arias (Alfredo), and her sons Francisco Morales Jr. (Nelda) and Michael Morales. She also leaves behind a cherished legacy through her grandchildren Richard Jimenez (Diane), Nancy Jimenez, Bianca Van Ausdall (AJ), Geoffrey Arias (Dorian), Nick Morales (Denae), and Milena Arias, as well as her great-grandchildren Richard Jr. (Lorinda), Cyann (Shawn), Lathan, Draylen, Brooklyn, Zaiden, Harper, Cru and Alaina.
Carmen was a loving supportive mother who dedicated herself as a homeroom mother, active parent in the PTA and supported numerous programs throughout her children's education. During her tenure with the American Legion, she volunteered at nursing homes assisting with various activities and helped deliver meals to families in need during the holidays. She remembers fondly having catechism under the shaded trees on the now historic grounds at San Juan Capistrano, where she was later married to Francisco Morales (USAF). Once married, he never failed to call her everyday from the office at 11:00 am just to say hello, the same way he’d give her a whistle and a smile after every hair salon visit, even though for years she claimed the stylist never got it right. She will be remembered for her acerbic wit, her love for her family and the countless wonderful memories she shared with them during holidays. Carmen will live on eternally through the family that adored her, a family that will never forget her smile or her heart. Rest in peace sweet Carmen.
