October 17, 1942 – October 15, 2019
Carlos Monreal, age 76, departed on October 15, 2019 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in San Antonio, TX on October 17, 1942 to Serapio & Carolina Monreal. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. A graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University and a post-graduate degree from San Diego State University, Carlos was an educator at heart, working in the educational system for 35 years, ultimately retiring as a school administrator.
His devotion to his family and his immersion in the Christian community that he joined when he converted in 1979 to The Light of the World Church (La Luz del Mundo), was what guided his life and ultimately gave him peace. He was a man of strong faith who created unforgettable experiences with his family and friends and left a wonderful legacy. Simply put, he had all the conversations he needed to have, elevated all the prayers he needed to, sang all the hymns he needed to, gave and received all the love that he needed to, simply stated, not one thing was left undone or incomplete.
Carlos is dearly missed by many, who celebrate the fact that he triumphed and is now experiencing the beauty and peace that he so valiantly fought to attain.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Julian and Frank.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife and companion of 50 plus years, Irasema Monreal; sons, Albert Monreal, Carlos Monreal and Javier Monreal, daughters Araceli Elizondo, and Libertad Zavala and 13 grandchildren.
