Cameron “CAM” as he was known by many and later graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, then University of Alabama Birmingham receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Birmingham, Alabama.
Cameron accepted Christ at an early age and continued to grow in his belief in God and building his faith which helped him through many “valleys” faced in his life, always coming through with that “Smile”.
Cameron began playing sports: tee ball, baseball, football and basketball, at an early age, developing a strong love to play only basketball. Over time, basketball brought Cam joy and comfort, with the understanding it was only a game, which paralleled life’s ups and downs. Cam’s basketball IQ developed early and helped in leading his middle school team to a district title (Ed White Middle School). He went on to average 22 points and 10 rebounds at Theodore Roosevelt High School. Cam walked on the UAB basketball program earning a full scholarship, playing four seasons. In his senior season at UAB, he averaged 16.1 points and 10.5 rebounds, named to 2011-12 All Conference USA First Team, 2011-12 All Conference Defensive First Team and 2011-12 All Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, Conference USA Player of the week (2). He ranked second in UAB history in double-doubles (28) and blocked shots (137) and fourth in total rebounds (747). He was one of three players with more than 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in his career. He was undrafted in 2012, but joined the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2012 NBA Summer League then signing with Ferro-ZNTU of Ukraine for the 2012-13 season.
