Bruce David Wright passed away on July 13, 2017 at the age of 73. He was born on March 17, 1944 to Bruce Roderick Wright and Leah Elizabeth Jelling of New York at AAF Dyersburg, Tennessee. Bruce graduated from Garden Grove High School in Garden Grove, California and UCI in Irvine, California with a BA in Social Ecology. He worked at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach and later was a counselor for twelve years at the Los Pinos Forestry Camp which was an “honor” camp for delinquent boys. As an avid photographer, Bruce was part of the 1980’s art movement downtown Los Angeles. He is survived by his loving wife of 10 years Eleanor Ann Chew Wright and daughter Laura Jarrard (married to Matt), whom is the sunshine of his life; step-children: Kaye Kikuchi, Emy Cole, Takashi Kikuchi; grandchildren: Leah Athena Jarrard, John (Jack) William Jarrard, Michael McClain Jarrard, Mathew (Max) Thomas Jarrard; nieces & nephew: Vicente, Lydia, Taila, Sophia; his friends: Leanne Dodge, Dee Hennke, Kerry Rhotenberry, Carl and Gail Krueger, Kyle and Marsha Gibson, COL USA (Ret) Gary and Sandy Griffin, Frank Klein, Kathy Kinsel, and other loving family members and friends. Bruce, an original California Surfer, was a humorous wit who never met a stranger. He was very a kind hearted and caring person who worked as a teacher’s aide in special education in Cuero. Bruce’s passions evolved around rain catchment, aquaculture, and algae biofuels. A freelance photographer, he was a free spirit who loved to photograph life on city streets. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Free Library of DeWitt County.
