A native San Antonian and 1st generation American of hispanic descent, she was the 2nd of three daughters including Rosalinda Attwood (d) and Carmen Quiroz. Blanca meets in Heaven her Husband Edward Blake and her sister Rosalinda Cortez. Left behind to cherish Blanca's memory are her three children Cecilia Anna Grammer, married to Dr. Robert Grammer, Maria Magdalena Servantez, and Edward Anthony Blake, married to Rhonda Travis Blake.
While growing up in the King William District and later Prospect Hill neighborhoods, Blanca attended school at Bonham Elementary and Sacred Heart. She went on to attend Ursuline Academy and after graduating went on to the Drawns Business School where she learned secretarial duties and office management. After graduating, she went on to work for Luhaun Realty and then for Father Stubbin at the archdiocese in the Matrimonial Tribunal process. At the urging of Mr. Sal Gomez, she went out on a blind date with Edward Blake who was visiting from Corpus Christi where he was stationed at the time. They fell in love very quickly and spent as much time together as possible from then on. They were married on July 6th, 1957 and moved one military orders beginning their journey at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; followed by orders to Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in Irvine.
Once settled back in San Antonio, Blanca began her employment at the University of Texas San Antonio as an administrative secretary in the music department. Blanca not only loved the challenge of her job, but also enjoyed helping and advising students who sought her advice. Upon retirement, she spent as much time as possible with family and grandchildren, and shared her passion of reading, history and current events. We remember Blanca for her fierce love of family, her thirst for knowledge, and a heart for those in need.
