She is survived by sons, Jan F. Tlush of TX, Geof Tlush and wife, Geraldine of PA; daughter-in-law Eileen (Gallen) Tlush of DE and six grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Alois (Al) Tlush and sons, Christopher Tlush and Dr. Charles Tlush.
She was born in 1926. Betty and Al met ice skating and were married in 1945; they lived in PA for many years before moving to NM. Betty obtained her certification as a registered gemologist in Britain and the United States. She was a proprietor of Carousel Gems and Minerals; exhibiting in eastern mineral shows and ultimately at Tucson and Denver. Betty was a supporter of the New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology. She was full of life and loved her minerals. Betty was respected and sought after to appraise rock and mineral collections for various universities and the Smithsonian. She, together with Al and friends aided in the pre-symposium planning of the NM Mineral Symposium that continues each year. The Tlush collection was gifted to the Socorro Mineral Museum, where much of it is on display. Betty was a loving mother, wife, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Betty will be cremated and interred with her devoted husband, Al Tlush at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
