She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to George and Bessie Keagle on April 4, 1923. After graduating from Byrd High School in Shreveport, she moved to San Antonio at the age of 16 after losing her father. It was in San Antonio where she graduated from Business school and met Victor J. Sobrino whom she married and lovingly shared her life with for 56 years.
For a number of years, she touched the lives of many while working as a Purchasing Agent for St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Betty was also a valued member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church Altar Society, St. Luke’s Hospital Volunteer Group, Holy Family Guild, and Bunco Club, which she dedicated 50 plus years to. Along the way, she developed countless friendships and devoted much of her time to helping others.
Betty is survived by numerous relatives including: Daughter, Patricia A. Tatum of Pattison, Texas; Son, Victor J. Sobrino Jr. (Cyndi) of San Antonio, Texas; Grandchildren, Kimberley Ruiz (Roy) of Sheridan, Arkansas, Kristi Polanco (David) of Austin, Texas, Bryan Peters (Meaghan) of San Antonio, Texas, and James V. Saunders (Tiffany) of Houston, Texas; Great Grandchildren, Audrianna Ruiz, Carmen Ruiz, Eladia Polanco, Silas Polanco, Bryan Peters, Link Peters, Jackson Saunders, Trenten Saunders, Hudson Saunders, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Victor J. Sobrino; Daughter, Susan E. Peters; and Sister, Barbara Jo Seifert; Son-in-laws, Russell Peters, Jack E. Saunders, and John P. Tatum.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
