Our devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend, Betty Sutch Jolly passed away after a short illness in the arms of her children on September 5th, 2012. Betty was born in Chicago on April 11, 1925 and raised in Champaign, Illinois. She was the oldest daughter of Dr. Vincent and Clara George Sutch. She attended Champaign High School which is where she met the love of her life, our dad, Finnis Jolly. Together the two worked at their family restaurant “The Pines”. After WWII our parents began a marriage which would last for over 63 years. Betty attended The University of Illinois in Champaign majoring in Journalism; she was an active member still to this day in her sorority Alpha Gamma Delta and was the Texas area treasurer and marketing rep for San Antonio, and raised funds for needy families. Our mother was bright, loving and devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was active in the little league activities for her son Bill at the Alamo Heights Little League, and a leader for the Girl Scouts for her daughters Barbara and Linda.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marlene Sutch Lang; her husband, Finnis Jolly, her daughter, Melissa Ann Jolly and her grandson Corp .Benjamin Worchel, USMC. She is survived by her daughters and son; Linda and Bob Rowe , Bill Jolly, Barbara and Gary Baker and grandchildren; Amanda Vann Worchel and Chris Harrison, Ryan and Michelle Matjeka, Lisa Matjeka, Chris Rowe, Jeff and Eve Rowe. Great Grandchildren are Aleksander, Kendyl, Emma, Darien and Andrew.
Visitation will be on Monday evening from 5 to 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 9/11 at 12:30 pm at the funeral home followed by the burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
