Bertha Faye Spencer

Bertha Faye Spencer passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, to be with her Lord. Faye was born on June 30, 1926 in Devine, TX, to her parents Loise M. Crutchfield Thompson and Robert Dibrell Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fred John Spencer and her two brothers, Robert and Dibrell Thompson. Faye is survived by her two children, John Spencer, Jr. (spouse Sue), and Belinda Mooring (spouse John), 4 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Faye enlisted in Women’s Army Corps Nursing in 1941 and became a Nurse Cadet. In 1945 she met her late husband, Fred John Spencer, at Kelly AFB and were married for 69 years. Faye began her working career at USAA. Faye was an early member of Concordia Lutheran Church and taught Sunday School for 33 years. She and Fred enjoyed their retirement years traveling in their motorhome across the U.S. Her strong faith in Jesus and dedication to the Lord made her an inspiration to anyone that knew her.

A visitation for Faye will be on Thursday, November 2 at 10:30, Concordia Lutheran Church with a service to follow at 11am with interment to follow burial at Sunset Memorial Park.
