Bertha G. Canedo

Bertha G. Canedo, age 92, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023. Bertha was born in San Antonio, Texas to Adelaida and Roberto Gomez Sr. She loved gardening, dancing, listening to swing and classic country music, and especially family gatherings.

Bertha is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband of 59 years, Rudolph Canedo Sr.; and her brothers, Daniel Gomez and Roberto Gomez Jr. She is survived by her children, Rudolph (Amy) Canedo Jr., Lillian (Eugene) Tatarzyn, Ruben (Jennifer) Canedo, and Laura (Jason) Layman; her grandchildren, Isabel (Nathan) Paschel, Phillip Tatarzyn, Jude Layman, and Savannah Layman; her great granddaughter, Sofia Paschel; her sister Gloria G. Luna, her sisters in law, Anita Gomez and Hortencia Canedo; her brother in law, Raymond Canedo; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Sunday, July 2 at 5:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. The funeral mass will be the next day, Monday, July 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 210 St. Ann St., San Antonio, TX 78201 with burial following at San Fernando II Cemetery, 746 Castroville Rd., San Antonio, TX 78237.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at VITAS Healthcare & Hospice and Methodist Metropolitan Hospital & Rehab for the loving care they showed Bertha.
