Belia Sanchez Aguirre

Belia Sanchez Aguirre was called to the Lord on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 92. She was born in San Angelo, Texas on August 03, 1930 to Alejandro and Velia (Menchaca) Sanchez.

Belia graduated from San Angelo High School and attended some college at what is now Angelo State University. She was raised as a Catholic by her maternal grandparents, her mother having died shortly after her birth. Belia grew up knowing her aunts as her sisters. They cared for her until her marriage at the age of 19. She had a wonderful singing voice, which she employed singing in the high school chorale and in the church choir with her husband to be, Cruz Aguirre. They continued in church choir as their ministry for many years of marriage.

Belia loved to cook and bake and always cared for her household. Belia will be remembered as a dedicated wife and mother, doing all she could for her family. This included scrounging for every penny to make sure her children were all well clothed and fed. She put her husband and children first before caring for herself and held nothing back in showing her children love. She was a woman full of faith, loving God with her whole heart, mind, and soul.

Aguirre, Cruz Aguirre, Jr. and wife Karen L. Aguirre; grandchildren Pamela J. Hinds and husband Wesley J. Hinds, Jessica D. Gregorowicz and husband David S. Gregorowicz, Ana T. Prater and husband Scott J. Prater, Roberto A. Aguirre and wife Jennifer P. Aguirre, Elisabeth S. Murphey and husband Sean L. Murphey, Jonathan D. Aguirre, Rick C. Aguirre and wife Samantha A. Aguirre, Maria E. Newman and husband Zack P. Newman, Brian P. Aguirre and wife Charlotte F. Aguirre, Lauren M. Chumbley and husband Rob B. Chumbley, Robin N. Miller and husband Kevin M. Miller, Nicole M. Aguirre, and Alex C. Aguirre; great grandchildren Jake A. Hinds, Tristan H. Prater, Dominic I. Aguirre, Nathaniel C. Aguirre, Levi C. Murphey, Benjamin D. Murphey, Alex M. Bowman, Lila K. Newman, Elliette L. Newman, Baby Boy Newman, Lacy M. Chumbley, Logan R. Chumbley, Luke M. Miller, Brooke A. Miller; and half siblings Rosa Sanchez, Alex Sanchez, Ruben Sanchez, and Nelda Sanchez.

Belia meets in Heaven her husband of 57 years Cruz Lara Aguirre.

A visitation for Belia will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232 with a rosary and vigil service at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Friday, June 9, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at St Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1602 Thousand Oaks Dr, San Antonio, TX 78232 with a procession to follow going to Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX 78266 for a 12:00 PM burial.
