Belen Guerra Lopez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, entered into rest on July 17, 2011 at the age of 96. She was born on March 26, 1915. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Belen was remembered for her devotion to "The Grandparent Program", administered by ACTION, the federal volunteer agency, where she dedicated so much of her time to help the handicapped and those ill or in need. She was an excellent seamstress for most of her life, a rare and admired art of today. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monico and Florencia Guerra, her beloved son, Joe Oscar Perez and her sisters and brothers. She is survived by her daughter Marie “Socorro” Hewitt; grandchildren, Edith Gonzaba and her husband George, Jerry Hewitt and his wife Yvonne, Garren Hewitt and his wife Jessica, Randy Perez and his wife Delia, Andy Perez and his wife Norma; great-grandchildren, Kristel Gonzaba, Gabriella Gonzaba, Georgie Gonzaba, Lexi Gonzaba, Amber Hewitt, Aiden Hewitt, Joanna Perez, Veronica Perez, Raymond Perez and Andrea Perez; and numerous other relatives and friends. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011 with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m., at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N. Main, San Antonio, Texas. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011 to celebrate a 10:00 a.m. Mass at Saint Ann Catholic Church, 210 St. Ann Street, San Antonio, Texas. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II. The family would like to extend an invitation to a reception, to honor the life of Belen Lopez, which will be held at St. Mary Magdalen's Jubilee Hall in the Blue Room, 1710 Clower, San Antonio, Texas, immediately following the services. The family wishes to extend a special “thank you” to all of the professionals at VITAS for their kind help.
