Barbara Anne Donnelly

Barbara Anne Donnelly, age 86, passed away at University Hospital with family members by her side on May 24, 2019. She was born in Melbourne, Australia on December 30, 1933 to parents, Thomas Donnelly and Geraldine Hurley. Barbara was a successful home builder and real estate agent in the U.S. and Australia. She received awards from the Dean's List for her poetry writings while attending Des Moines University. She loved to go on long walks with her pet dogs.

Barbara was married to Robert E. McCarthy in London, England where their 3 children, Julia Lynn McCarthy, Kim Susan McCarthy and Jeremy John McCarthy, were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Geraldine; Robert McCarthy; brother, Teddy and sisters, Pat and Margaret. Barbara is survived by her brother, Michael; her 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

There will be a Celebration of Life gathering to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to animal shelters of your choice to honor Barbara.
