Aurora P. Abundis, born in San Antonio, Texas February 8, 1931, went to meet her Maker and Savior our Lord on August 14, 2004. Aurora was a loving wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. At the age of 18, Aurora helped to raise her brothers and sisters after her mother's early death. She worked for 24 years for Jacob Rubiola Insurance Agency before establishing her own Insurance Agency in 1972. Aurora, along side her husband, owned and operated a successful restaurant and tortilla factory "Don Carlos" from 1980-1998. She was an excellent role model and helped other women to pursue advanced careers of their own. Her family and friends will always remember her as a great friend, ambitious entrepreneur and humble and modest woman who made many sacrifices for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Maria Porter; and two brothers, Frank and Carlos Porter. She is survived by her husband, Carlos Abundis; daughters, Maria A. Garcia and husband, Noah Garcia, Jacqueline A. Lee and husband, Brent Lee, Deborah A. Woodridge and husband, Dr. James Edward Woodridge, and Karen A. Johnson and husband, A. Scott Johnson; son, Carlos P. Abundis, II and wife, Dr. Margot G. Abundis; brother, Pete V. Porter; sisters, Elida P. Morris, Olga P. Aguilar, Emma P. Hernandez, Norma P. Vinton, Irma P. Perfecto; and her grandchildren. The Abundis family wishes to thank the many wonderful people at the Methodist Hospital Oncology Floor and the Methodist Specialty Transplant Hospital ICU and 2nd floor. A special thanks to Dr. R. Drengler and staff at the CTRC as well as the staff at IHS.
