He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerardo and Manuela Collazo, sister, Trinidad Medina, brothers: Pedro, Rodolfo, Jose, Ignacio, Luis, Roberto, Oscar, George, and Fernando. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria, sons: Jerry (Sheila), Charlie (Sandra), and David (Raquel), grandchildren: Jacob, Jeffrey, Angel (Roger), Chris, and Andrew, great-grandchildren: Jayden, Vincent, Alyssa, Gracie, and Lexi.
He was born in Laredo, Texas, enlisted in the Air Force during the Korean War and settled in San Antonio in 1959. He retired as a sheet metal mechanic at Kelly AFB after 32 years. He served as an usher at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, and had the honor of ushering for Pope Saint John Paul II. He enjoyed being a member of the St Luke’s Men’s Club.
A visitation will begin on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 6pm-9pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with a rosary beginning at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at 10am at St. Luke's Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
