Audrey Chloe Dlugosz of San Antonio, Texas, passed away October 6, 2022, at the age of 88.
Audrey was born in Stockdale, Texas to Tommie Ellen Cheatham and Irvin Henry Cheatham on January 15, 1934. She married Albert John Dlugosz in 1955 and they remained happily married until his death in 1996.
Audrey was preceded in death by her son, Victor Anthony Dlugosz, in 1977. She is survived by her brother, Elliott, and her children, Marcus (Casey), Farley (Sylvia), Valerie (Tony), Perry, and Leticia (Danny), eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Audrey was a devoted wife and a cherished mother. She was a blessing to her family and always put her children’s needs before hers. Her kindness was always extended to all of her children’s friends, and they flocked to her and loved her as well. She adored her grandchildren, and took special delight in watching them as they grew, always happy to recall and recite the cute things they said or did all through their childhoods.
Audrey was a beautiful woman and a beautiful soul. She exemplified grace and intelligence. Her artistic abilities and her sewing were excellent. She could draw, paint, and make beautiful clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren. She often made and embellished many of her own clothes, which were always very beautiful. She made matching outfits for her girls and always made sure her boys were dressed nicely for church. She was also a great cook. We will miss her enchilada dinners dearly. She loved classical music, Mozart and Beethoven and Schumann, and she and dad loved to attend the San Antonio Symphony often. After his passing she stayed busy continuing to sew and make crafts, and she enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with her family.
She loved all of her family. She loved her sons and daughters-in-law as her own children. She was always was pleasant and never complained. Through the years she was our counselor and advisor, comforting us when we had trouble and giving the best advice when we needed direction. Her passing leaves all of her family deeply in mourning. We are very thankful to have had such a wonderful mother all of these years. She will be profoundly missed.
