

Arturo was preceded in death by his sisters, Hermelinda, Dorotea, Dora and brothers, Richard and Raul.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary E. Villarreal; devoted daughters, Sylvia Villarreal-Casas and husband, Mike, Diana Villarreal and husband, Jesse B. Tellez, Norma Villarreal and husband, Kurt Sistrunk and Lisa Marie Montelongo and husband, Rudy M. Jr.; grandsons, Dax Armand V. Tellez, Kyle Sistrunk and John Arthur Montelongo; granddaughters, Marissa Sistrunk and Claudia Montelongo; sisters, Elida Robles and Connie Perez; brother, Jesse Villarreal and wife, Rosa, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Arturo often fondly recalled his years as a sergeant and senior parachutist in the U.S. Army's 508th Airborne "H" Company in Ft. Benning, Georgia. His achievements include a National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.
Upon his discharge from the U.S. Army, he embarked on numerous business ventures which included A & M Food Market, La Fuente Party House, Disco Fantasy, and Arturo's Ballroom. His love of music led to the creation of the first Super Dance in 1976. His success in the industry was recognized in 2001 when he received the National Hispanic Music Hall of Fame Award and the Tejano Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008.
Arturo's passion for business was reflected in his continued desire to manage his current ventures despite his physical limitations. His creativity, risk taking and hard work ethic will remain an inspiration to his family.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
