Armando Martinez Vaquera, age 71, of San Antonio, Texas passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his beloved family on Friday, August 28, 2020. Armando was born June 28, 1949 in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. Armando was predeceased by his father, Santiago Martinez Gonzalez, his mother, Florencia Vaquera de Martinez, his brother, Ignacio Martinez Vaquera, and his son, Francisco Martinez.
Armando is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Gloria Mendoza, his children, Cynthia Escalante (Misael), Rosalia Rodriguez (Homer), Luz Martinez-Bernal (David), Armando Martinez, Jr., Crystal Alanis (Juan), Cecilia Martinez, Jasmine Martinez, Florencia Martinez (Armando) and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Armando was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to everyone. He was a hardworking man who instilled his work ethic on his children. He was filled with so much joy and loved making everyone happy. His favorite times were when his family came together. At those gatherings, he loved to make tamales, tell stories, make jokes, sing, dance and play with his grandchildren. Everyone will fondly remember his unique way of singing happy birthday at every birthday celebration. Armando will be tremendously missed by everyone.
Funeral services will begin on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Funeraria del Angel Trevino Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The rosary will be at 7:00 pm. On Friday, September 11, 2020, final visitation will begin at 8:00 am then he will be escorted to El Carmen Catholic Church for a funeral mass at 10:00 am. Armando will be laid to rest at the El Carmen Cemetery.
