Armando Javier "Mando" Cantu 66, of San Antonio, Texas passed away peacefully on the morning of September 24, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas after a courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He faced his diagnosis and treatment with positivity and grace and was forever grateful to everyone who cared for him and assisted him throughout his journey.
Armando was born in Mission Texas on August 6, 1956 and graduated from South San High School in San Antonio Texas in 1974. On March 12, 1988, Armando married the love of his life Cheryl Rose and they were able to spend the last 34 years together. Armando had an entrepreneurial spirit about him from a very young age and so he began throwing newspapers. Many times he talked about loving the sound of change jingling in his pockets and was so proud of having his own money to buy a soda and candy at a moments' notice. That work ethic served him very well over the course of his business career and allowed him to open his own successful personal lines insurance agency, After deciding to retire, he sold his agency, and began to work part time as a bus driver for the Alamo Heights Independent School District. It gave him great joy to be around the children and drive them safely to and from school.
Armando was preceded in death by his Father, Alejandro Cantu. He is survived by his Mother Blanca Lilia, loving wife, Cheryl Rose, Sister, Yolanda Trevino(Daniel}Sister, Maria Estela Cantu-Green(Dwight)Brother Alejandro Jr.(Nancy}Brother, Albert and Brother, Andres. Armando is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. In addition, he will be forever missed by his extended Lansford and La Fosse Families. He cherished his Family and Friends and considered them his greatest gift in life.
