Antonio was born on March 17, 1931 in Selma, TX to Francisco Garcia and Luisa Garcia. On April 26, 1953, he married Enriqueta Flores Garcia. Antonio gave his life to Christ and was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in San Antonio, TX followed by Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville, TX.
Antonio had a strong work ethic. At an early age, he went from picking cotton to working on railroad tracks. Antonio’s boss quickly discovered his dedication. Instead of working on the tracks, Antonio oversaw railroad maintenance making sure track repairs were functioning properly. At the age of 16, he started his career with Longhorn Portland Cement Company in San Antonio, TX. Antonio worked as a Laborer and despite little education, he learned the operations of every department. Management noticed his diligence and commitment. Soon after, Antonio became a supervisor supporting approximately 150 employees. He was respected among his peers and developed lifelong relationships with the management team.
Retirement did not slow down Antonio’s passion to work. He was a skillful problem solver who loved a challenge and gravitated toward automotive and construction projects. Antonio took pleasure in traveling, fishing, deer hunting, watching and playing baseball. He was lovingly known for closing his eyes and passionately singing along with his favorite musicians during family gatherings and celebrations.
