CSM Anthony Sandoval, Sr. (Ret.) entered rest on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the age of 57. He was born January 16, 1954 to Antonio Sandoval and Stella Montiel in San Antonio. A career Army man, he served during Vietnam, and in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom as well as in Afghanistan. He was highly decorated, earning the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army commendation Medal among numerous other awards. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Kathy; daughters, Melissa Sandoval Mason (Mark), Jennifer Sandoval Lopez (Cesar) and Kristen Henry; sons, Anthony (TJ) Sandoval, Jr. (Melisa) and Quentin Dearing; grand children, Amanda, Marek, Elizabeth, Adrianna, Gabriel, Jacob, Cyann, Amerie, Maya, Jace and Jamie; sister, Sandra S. Garcia; brother, Michael Rusty Sandoval; and a host of friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm with a rosary at 7:00pm Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 8:00am Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Main Post Chapel At Fort Sam Houston with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Army Honors.
