The heart and strength of her family - loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Annie Mae (Fontenot) Pettit of San Antonio, Texas went to be with her Loving Lord and Savior on Thursday January 16, 2014, at the age of 76.
She was born July 5, 1937 to Pleney Joesph Fontenot Sr. and Neles Dutile Fontenot, in Vinton, LA. Annie Mae attended Westlake High School at which time she met and married David Franklin Pettit Sr. in 1954 and soon began the life of a military family, often relocating across the country until his retirement where they settled in San Antonio, Texas.
Anne Mae loved to travel, and spent several years traveling across country with her husband in their RV after his retirement. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and crafts but there was nothing that brought her more joy than to spend time with those that she loved. Her heart and soul belonged to her family. She loved being a mother and grandma to all. She always had a smile and a hug waiting.
She is preceded in death by her son David F. Pettit Jr. and her siblings: Wilburt Fontenot; Rose Marie Rodgers; Pleney Joesph Fontenot Jr. and Juanita LaFlame.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Wilson Fontenot of Moss Bluff, La.; Katie Mae Richard of Lake Charles, La.; Brenda Sue Spearin of Moss Bluff, La.; David M. Fontenot of Westlake, La.; Robert L. Fontenot of Wimberley, Tx and Polly Fontenot Grandham of Iowa, La.
Anne Mae is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, David F. Pettit Sr. and her daughters, Diane Pettit Hampton of San Antonio, Tx.; Vickie Geisel of Floresville, Tx.; and Emily Baird, of San Antonio, Tx. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; and twenty seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. As well as several honorary adoptees she joyfully claimed as her family along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday January 21, 2014 at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 N Loop 1604 San Antonio Texas 78232 from 6 pm to 7 pm. Immediately followed by a Rosary service at 7 pm.
Grave site burial will be held at 9:45 am promptly Wednesday, January 22 at Fort Sam Cemetery. Memorial service immediately following the burial at 410 Shadywood Ln, San Antonio, Tx 78216
