Anna Belle was born on March 17,1932 in Schulenburg, Texas. She was the youngest of four children. Her parents were Frieda Gerdes Giese and Percy Fred Giese, who were farmers. She relocated to San Antonio in 1940, after her father’s death and her mother remarried, William Wagner, a contractor, who died a year later. After high school, she attended Draughns Business School. She was 17 years old and worked at Floyd West and Company. She married Henry Moss Green Jr., a marine, on August 1, 1950, who was friend’s with Anna Belle’s brother. Anna Belle and “Moss” had 4 children; Patti, Hank, Debbie, and Jimmy. The family moved frequently as typical with the military. When Moss would serve abroad, Anna Belle and their 4 children would relocate to San Antonio and live with her mother. Anna Belle worked for multiple insurance companies, but after Moss retired from the Marine Corps in 1963, she returned to Floyd West & Company. Anna Belle was the first woman president of the San Antonio Claims Association and she was the first woman claims adjuster in the State of Texas.
