

Though Anna Castano struggled most of her life with mental illness, she was a loving mother and grandmother. Anna was always supportive and worried about her loved ones. She was known for her intelligence, humor, and creativity. In her 20s, she received her bachelor's in occupational therapy and attained the rank of First Lieutenant in the Army where she helped rehabilitate soldiers and veterans. Anna will be greatly missed by those that knew her.
She is survived by her children, Dena Stroh, LeRoy Thomas DeNooyer, Anna Janelle Broadnax, and Jennifer Castano; grandchildren, Lydia Stroh, Bennett Stroh, Dillon Stroh, Morey DeNooyer, Skylar DeNooyer, Jocelyn Broadnax, Justin Broadnax, Abigail Saldana, and Miguel Saldana; sister, Sue Zambrano; and brother, Thomas Bennett.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 6:00 P.M. to 900 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M.
A graveside service will be conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 2:45 P.M. in Shelter, Pavillion # 5.
