Ann Nelson passed away peacefully June 15, 2019. Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Ann was born July 24, 1934 in Crittenden County Kentucky to Forrest Bennet and Lois (Little) Hamilton. She married James Darrell Nelson in 1952 and began a life serving as a military wife. He preceded her in death in 1988. Ann settled in San Antonio and became active in many groups. She joined ROOTs, AARP, Bunco, Lunch Bunch, Mr Gatti card group, she formed Games Day at the Legacy Apartments and loved attending Ukelele Ladies and Gents. She loved to travel and had many friends. She loved sweets and was known for her baking. She loved her family and had a special bond with Mariessa.
Ann is survived by her children: Kathy Meissner, Burleson Tx; Tim Nelson, Djibouti, Africa; Donna Cherry, Weatherford, Tx and David (Kelly) Nelson Knoxville, Tn; 10 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; her brother John Hamilton of Marion Ky; sister in law Joyce Kirk and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral Service will 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Ft. Sam Huston National Cemetery. Condolences maybe offered at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.
