

Anita graduated from Incarnate Word High School and The University of Southern California where she received a degree in Education and was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority.
Anita was a School Teacher in Laredo and then in San Antonio where she met her future husband, J. Laland McCormick on a blind date. They were married on September 3, 1960 in San Antonio and were later blessed with three children, Erin, James, and Tom. Anita was a devoted wife and mother who always put the needs of others above herself. God, family, friends, travel and her dogs were the passions of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents and loving sister, Laurel Kaupert.
Anita is survived by her husband, J. Laland McCormick; brother, Roy J. Gilbert, Jr. and wife, Norma; three children, Erin Braune and her husband, Tim, James McCormick and wife, Kathy, and Tom McCormick and wife, Kayde; three grandchildren, Nicole, Whitney and Grace; and her schnauzers, Heimer and Luger.
Several lifelong friends include Sally Cavanaugh, Lee Nagel, Connie Mendoza, Linda Perez, Rosario Ojeda, Carmen Ortiz, Judy Scheibe and Gloria Gamez Solorio.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 28, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
