Angela L. Encina, age 79, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024. She was born on August 27, 1944 to Emeteria and Jose Lopez. She attended Lanier High School before she left during 11th grade to go to work to help her family. Angela would go on to work at a pharmacy that had a post office inside where she helped out at and was a cashier. Later on, Angela would go to work at the Cleaners. She was a person who would help everybody, no matter the situation and she loved her family dearly. She enjoyed cooking and baking, she made sure that nobody she knew was going to go hungry. Angela loved to do puzzles, crosswords, writing scriptures in her diary, and watching the Hallmark channel and Golden Girls. She was a strong woman and battled brain cancer for 2 and a half years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Santos Encina; her son, Ramon Ybarra Jr.; her parents, Jose and Emeteria G. Lopez; her brothers, Jose Lopez Jr., Armando Lopez, and Gilbert Lopez; and her sister, Sylvia Leyva. Angela is survived by her children, Richard Ybarra, Juan Ybarra (Jessica), and Veronica Encina (Jesse Garcia); her step children, Santos Encina Jr., Shirley Encina, and Sandy E. Tapia (Polo); her sister, Rachel Martinez (Juan), and her sister in law, Sofia Reyna; her daughter in law, Cat Rodriguez; her 6 grandchildren, Marcela Ybarra, Melissa Ybarra, Jennifer Ybarra, Angelina Ybarra, Emma Jo Morales, and Ramon Ybarra; her great grandchild, Sorin Martinez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other family and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home the following morning, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 9:30 AM to have a funeral mass to 10:00 AM at Holy Name Catholic Church, 8314 Nash Blvd, San Antonio, Texas 78223.
