He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Julia V. Flores, his parents Francisco and Ramona Flores, and 8 brothers and sisters.
In his early years he attended the Von Ormy School until the age of 12. During the peak of WWII, he unfortunately discontinued his studies to help look after his younger siblings. He worked various jobs to contribute to the household, and at the age of 17 he was able to secure a job at Kelly Air Force Base. He called it the "luckiest day of his life" and his good fortune continued until his retirement in 1990 with 40 years of Civilian Service.
During this time, Andrew married the love of his life, Julia, at the age of 22. Together, they worked hard to provide for their growing family. He was an amazing father, grandfather, son, uncle, brother, friend, and follower of Christ. He cherished time spent with all family as they were the light of his life.
Andrew was incredibly talented and was a jack of all trades. He had a strong interest in restoring machinery and could be found working outside, even on the hottest of days. His love for music and art was overwhelming and he enjoyed playing the guitar and other instruments to his favorite Tejano and Mariachi songs. His creative mind allowed him to spend a countless amount of hours free-handing cascarones, along with creating original artwork of all kinds. In his favorite recliner, he made sure to design each piece with love, uniqueness and a gentle touch. He will always be remembered for his caring heart, admirable work ethic, and dedication to his family.
Andrew's memory will forever live through his 7 loving children, Robert (Liz) Flores, Rudy (Margie) Flores, Andrew (Susie) Flores, Rachel (Alex) Quintanilla, David (JoAn) Flores, Polly (Sonny) Gonzalez and Helen Perez, along with 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A visitation for Andrew will be held Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 13466 IH 35, Von Ormy, Texas 78073 with interment to follow at First Memorial Park Cemetery.
