Andrea Alvarez, age 37, a loving wife of 18 years to Stephen and a loving mother to her adored children, Amelia Celeste, Janis Pearl and Ace James, was called home to be with the Lord, surrounded by family and immense love, on September 26, 2021.
Andrea was born to Juan and Paula Martinez on October 8, 1983. She was the fifth born of five children. She was cherished by her older brothers and sisters: Carlos, Angie, Johnny, Martha, as well as their spouses, famously known as the Outlaws, Sonia, Mary, Joanna and Alex.
She was also a loving aunt and great aunt to J.J., Beckie, Carlos , Zander, Nikki, Julia, Angelica, Jeremy, Caleb, Sammy, Olivia, Kyleigh, Nicholas, Zakariah, Andrew, Alice, Noah, Amelia and Ian; a blessing to her extended family, Rita and Tito, Uncle Ralph and Donna, AJ and Dawn, Mckenzie, Austin, Saylor and Jaxson; a great friend too many, including Michelle, Shelly, John, Carla and Robert, Patricia and David; and a hard worker to her San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS) family where she was employed for 14 years.
Andie was full of life from the get-go. She was ALWAYS smiling. In elementary, she performed in many cultural arts events, in middle school she was a cheerleader and played sports, and in high school she continued playing sports to include joining the swim team. She was a graduate of South San Antonio High School, Class of 2002, and secretary of her class.
Her love of sports drew her in to become a huge fan of Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs. Her bedroom walls were covered in anything and everything Timmy. Then came football and the Dallas Cowboys. And, of course, let us not forget fight nights. She loved every minute of it.
For Andie, there was nothing better than family, friends and food. She couldn’t get enough of her family, home-cooked meals, family barbeques and trying new restaurants with them. Especially sushi, and her ultimate fav Rosario’s in Southtown.
Although Andie was an avid reader, attending concerts was her passion. To say she loved music is an understatement. Another must for her was Fiesta. Attending the carnival, collecting Fiesta Medals and attending King William Fair for that Chicken on a Stick, her must-dos every year.
Andrea Alvarez. If you were lucky enough to know her, you will agree that she was a blessing to all of us in a way that is indescribable. She had a special kind of love to offer to each and every one of us in her own special way.
The loss is unfathomable.
A visitation for Andrea will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd, 78211, with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 PM.
