Ana Maria M. Garza, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went to rest in the Lord’s garden on June 10, 2024, at the age of 77 in San Antonio, Texas. Born on January 19, 1947, in Eagle Pass, Texas, to Robert Mack and Delfina Sanchez Mack, Ana Maria lived a life rich in love, wisdom, and dedication.
Ana Maria is survived by her devoted husband, Valentin Garza; her children, Valentin Javier Garza and his wife, Mayra E. Garcia,Laura Karina Garza and husband Tino Lopez, Jorge Carlos Garza and wife Kimberly, Sergio Ricardo Garza; her grandchildren, Brandon Garza, Nadia Lopez, Ashtyn Fournier, Christopher Garza, Robert Garza, and Oliver Garza; her brothers, Robert Mack, Richard Mack, Roland Mack, Rudy Mack; her sister, Ida Candia; and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
After graduating from Eagle Pass High School, Ana Maria attended the University of Houston, earning her bachelor’s degree in education in 1970. Her passion for learning led her to Texas A&I Kingsville, where she obtained her master's degree in 1976. She furthered her professional career by receiving her Mid-management Administrator and Superintendent Certification.
Ana Maria began her teaching career in 1970 as an Elementary School Teacher in Houston, TX. She then moved back to Eagle Pass, TX, where she continued to nurture young minds as an Elementary School Teacher and Instructional Officer through 1992. In 1992, Ana Maria embraced a new role as Principal in Eagle Pass, TX, and later moved to San Antonio, TX, in 1997 to serve as Vice Principal at Villarreal Elementary.
Ana Maria was a person full of love, honor, and strength. She was an adventurous and generous woman who found joy in camping, hiking, reading, writing, painting, and dancing. Above all, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially in her cherished role as grandmother.
Visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238, on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 10:00 am at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with interment at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Ana Maria’s legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
