Amelia Watson passed away at the age of 72 in San Antonio Texas on March 15, 2023, after a battle with Parkinson’s. She was born on January 30, 1951 in Corpus Christi Texas to Avelino and Ofilia Amaya.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George H. Watson Jr, and parents Avelino and Ofilia Amaya.
She is survived by her children: Jennifer Wall (Shane) and George Watson (Tracy); grandchildren: Gaven, Erin, Joshua, Anthony and Maya, brother Avelino Amaya (Sandra) sister Audilia Ybarra (Felipe), several nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Amelia was known for her love of travel, playing bingo, going to Kickapoo to play the slot machines, and hosting over the top parties for her friends. She never missed an opportunity to see her grandkids sports and music events and was always the first in line to be there.
She graduated from Harlandale High School in 1969 here in San Antonio and loved reconnecting and getting together with her high school classmates over the years and going to all their get togethers.
Amelia enjoyed listening to smooth jazz, loved going to concerts downtown and even setting up her fold out chair at Crossroads Mall for their Jazz Festival.
Amelia took great pride in the appearance of her home, loved gardening, and always made sure her yard was in tip top shape and that her home was exactly as she wanted it to be. She had a gadget for everything you could possibly imagine and anytime you needed something she probably had it in her purse!
Amelia fought hard all the way to the end. She never lost her faith and was singing worship songs and praising Jesus until her last days. She was a one-of-a-kind lady who always lived her life her way and who will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life for Amelia will be held Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio Texas, 78238.
