Some people only walk this earth for a short time. Their departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Alma Salazar gained her wings on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:46 am at the age of 66. She was born in San Antonio on August 12, 1954. Alma joined her sister, Juanita (Janie) S. Vela; grandson, Aaron Jayden Godoy; and father, Manuel C. Salazar in heaven. She is survived by her mother, Josefina Salazar; four children: Yvonne Bosmans, Mariano Olmos III (Juanita), Ashley Olmos-Godoy (Timothy), Kimberly Chavez; grandchildren: Alexa and Timothy Godoy; sister: Linda Salazar Sanchez (Juan); and many nephews and nieces.
Alma was unlike any other soul. She had a fire for life and you could see it glistening in her eyes. She was a breast cancer survivor not once, but twice. When her twin sister Janie gained her wings, she told her sister’s children that they were her children now and she would take care of them. She loved unconditionally and was self-sacrificing. That’s the kind of person and mother she was.
She instilled life teachings to her children that will be passed down to future generations. Her children will always be thankful God chose Alma as their mom. Her grandchildren will be raised knowing how much she loved them and how much strength they gave her.
She was always determined and hard-working. When anyone else would have been broken, Alma stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. In our eyes she will always embody a warrior and a symbol of strength.
Alma will be profoundly missed by family, friends, and all that knew her. The family extends their deepest gratitude for the love and support during this time.
