Alice Beatrice Briones-Ditmer

"Alice" was born on April 5, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas, to Gabino A. Cortez and Beatrice C Cortez. She was the oldest of three children, Gabino Cortez, and Alfred Cortez. She married Robert A Briones in 1964 and enjoyed 30 years of marriage before his death in October 1994. During her marriage to “Bob”, she gave birth to two beautiful children, Robert A Briones II and Nicole Briones. “Alice” remarried later in life to Harold Robert Ditmer in November 2005 and enjoyed 3 years of marriage before his death in December 2008.

Alice is survived by her two children: Robert A Briones II and wife Caroline of San Antonio, Texas, and Nicole Briones and husband Alex Shepard, of San Antonio Texas. She greatly loved and enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren: Gabrielle Denise Briones, Emily Rose Briones-Tobeck and husband Mason Tobeck, Robert A Briones III, and great-grandchild Ruth Rose Tobeck. Alice is also survived by her two brothers: Gabino Cortez and wife Sarah of Houston, Texas, and Alfred Cortez and wife Sonia of San Antonio, Texas. Her family also included many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved dearly.

She attended San Jacinto High School in Houston, Texas, graduating in 1961. She then attended the University of Houston for a brief period for Nursing before marrying Robert A Briones. Alice enjoyed a 35-year career in management with the United States Postal Service retiring in 1998. For many years after her retirement from the postal service, Alice worked at the admissions office at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, as well as Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home. When not devoting her time to work and family, Alice was a member of several organizations she loved that included The Rotary Club, Toastmaster, and Order of the Eastern Star

The family is grateful for all the love, prayers, and support that continued to be given.

A visitation will begin on Sunday, January 21st, from 6pm – 9pm at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, with the Rosary beginning at 7:00pm. A funeral mass will be held Monday, January 22nd at St. Peter’s Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church at 1pm, with the interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery at 2:30pm.
