Al J. Koenig

Al J. Koenig was born in San Antonio, TX on April 27, 1915 to Adolph and Helen (Hoag) Koenig and passed away in Karnes City, TX on June 5, 2014 at the age of 99. He married Marsella C. Johnson on December 19, 1947 at Grace Lutheran Church in San Antonio, TX. She passed away on April 21, 2003. Al retired from Kelly AFB after 30 years of service as a machinist (tool and dye maker).

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marcy; infant son, Douglas Al Koenig (1950) and son, Randall F. Koenig (1998). Surviving are his daughter, Rhonda A. Henke (Clarence); 8 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Andersen of Longview, TX, sisters-in-law, Virginia Koenig and Ilsa Koenig, both of San Antonio, TX.; 6 nieces.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. A celebration of Al’s life will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Shepherd King Lutheran Church 303 W. Ramsey, 78216. After a brief reception at the church, interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
