Agnes was preceded in death by her father, Alphonse Rodriguez and Mother, Estella Muszynski Rodriguez, Stepmother, Ester Rodriguez, half-brothers Alphonse Jr., Gilbert, and Gustavo and great grandchild Mason Vasquez.
Agnes leaves behind her loving husband and soulmate for almost 64 years, Gilbert P. Wiatrek Sr, daughters Beverly Wiatrek, Cindy Lopez (husband Tony), son Gilbert Wiatrek Jr (wife Mary Lou), grandchildren Jason Lopez (wife Molly), Jennifer Lopez, Abigail Wiatrek, Hayden Wiatrek, and great grandchildren Mackenzie Lopez, Brooklyn Lopez, and Jackson Lopez.
Agnes retired from Friedrich’s Air Conditioning after 48 years of dedicated service. It is there at Friedrich’s factory where Agnes met Gilbert. They worked in the same department for many of those years. Mom always took joy in telling the story how they met at work. Mom’s best friend used to always tease Mom because of how Dad seemed to always watch her when she was walking around the factory. One day on a 50-cent bet from her friend, Mom was challenged to ask Gilbert if she could eat lunch with him. After that, they were always together. I guess you could say that both Mom and Dad “won” that bet.
Enjoying retirement, Mom and Dad went on several adventures…. They visited many of islands in the Caribbean on cruises along with visits to Costa Rica, Columbia, and Panama (including a trip sailing through part of the actual Panama Canal). Besides multiple visits to Hawaii, they toured through the Northeast United States into Canada & Alaska. Probably one of their biggest adventures was a 23-day journey which started in Florida, toured some of the Caribbean, then crossed the Atlantic to Portugal and Italy.
Mom leaves behind a legacy of hard work and perseverance…. A fierce loyalty to family… As most anyone who spent any time around Agnes can attest to, she never met a stranger. Mom could talk to anyone, anywhere, and most importantly about anything. Sometimes to our own embarrassment. That is what made her special. That is what made Agnes….. Agnes.
