Addison Thomas Gudowski of Buda, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, with his wife and his daughter lovingly by his side on September 23, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Tom is survived by his wife of 49 years, Chizuko and their daughter Dawn.
Tom was born in California, he later graduated from high school in New Mexico and then joined the United States Army where he served our country honorably for twenty-one years.
While serving in the United States Army, Tom received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of the State of New York and Michigan State University respectively. Tom had the privilege of traveling to many countries and it was during one of his assignments in Japan, where he met the love of his life. Over the course of his distinguished career, Tom worked with the Army Security Agency and later transferred into Organizational Effectiveness where he remained until his retirement at Fort Sam Houston.
After his retirement from the Army as a Master Sergeant, Tom began his next career with the City of San Antonio. Tom was best known as a dedicated investigator in the Equal Employment Opportunity Department with a brief stint as a Maintenance Superintendent for the Aviation Department. Tom retired from the City of San Antonio after twenty two years of dedicated service.
Tom was a huge car aficionado, and his prized possession was his Nissan 300ZX TT. Tom was a font of knowledge and was always learning new things. Above all else, Tom loved his wife and daughter and he was a kind and generous man with a love of life who loved history (especially military history), traveling, road trips, all animals and walking each morning with his wife.
The family would like to send their deepest appreciation to the Doctors and Nurses at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Buda in addition to all the staff at Silverado Hospice.
A private ceremony will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you instead make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Tom’s honor.
