Anastacio Torres Gomez (A.T.), age 78 of San Antonio, TX passed away September 17, 2022. He was born in Odem, TX on November 11, 1943 to Felipe Gomez and Matilda Torres. He was married to Maria M. Gomez for 55 years. A.T. worked primarily as a truck driver and after retirement, worked for an auto auction in San Antonio. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Thomas Church in Corpus Christi, TX. A.T. committed himself to providing care to his loving wife, and after she passed he attended church on a regular basis and held on to his faith and love of God. A.T. was known as a jokester who loved to make others laugh and loved working around the house and yard. He also had great love for his grandchildren, and his two dogs Snoopy and Pebbles.
A.T was also a proud veteran who served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He dutifully served his God, country and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Felipe Gomez and Matilda Torres, and his only brother Felipe Gomez II.
He is survived by his sister Tina Barrientos and his three children Alfredo Gomez (Elizabeth Gomez), Sandra De La Paz (Joel De La Paz), and Ada Gomez Lopez (Jose Lopez). A.T. had much love for his 12 grandchildren: Phillip Michael Gomez, Jonathan Daniel Gomez, Marc Anthony Gomez, Alyssa Gomez, Joshua Vargas, Ely Gutierrez, Evan Gutierrez, Edward Gutierrez, Marina Alyssa Devine, Jacob De La Paz, Jaiden Nathaniel Lopez, and Alani Grace Lopez. A.T. also had a total of 6 great grandchildren: Grayson Anthony Hernandez, Jonathan Daniel Gomez II, Giselle LeeAnn Gomez, Nathan Angelo Gutierrez, Allison Lynne Gutierrez, and Brooklyn Matilda Devine. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Family will be receiving guest for a visitation on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home, 2525 Palo Alto Rd., San Antonio, TX 78211. A rosary will be held at 7:00pm. On Monday, October 3, 2022 we will be departing in procession from Fuenraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home at 11:45am. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12:30pm at St. Pius X Church, 3303 Urban Crest Drive, San Antonio, TX 78209. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
