William E. (Bill) Hopper

William E. (Bill) Hopper passed away on June 1, 2017 at age 89, in San Angelo, Texas, surrounded by his family. Bill was born December 1, 1927, in Mountain Home, Arkansas to his parents Rev. Guy and Tocie Hopper. His early life was spent in Arkansas and he graduated from Harrison High School and then served in the United States Army. He married Mildred Ervin in 1950 and moved to Pecos, Texas in 1953 to work at Hubbs Office Supply. He served as City Manager of Pecos for many years and raised his family in Pecos. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith, and wife Mildred. In 2006 he moved to Baptist Retirement Community in San Angelo and became a member of First Baptist Church, where he was active in Glory Choir and his Sunday School Class. He married June Doerr in 2012.

Bill is fondly remembered for his humor, his stories, and his wisdom about life. He loved West Texas, the Davis Mountains, and the people he held dear as lifelong friends.

Bill is survived by his wife, June, daughter Becky (Michael) Hooper of Houston, daughter Cathy Harber of Ft Worth, granddaughters Laura Doughty (Gavin) and Katy Barnett (Jeremiah) grandsons: Sam (Misty) Perkins, Zachary, and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by step daughters Debbie (Jack) Taylor and Kim (Greg) Baucom and four granddaughters: Alex, Devin, Mary and Cally, and one great grandson. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church Chapel on June 5, 2017. A private family remembrance service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison, Arkansas at a later date.
