Victoria was born on June 10th, 1994, to Carlos and Martha Diaz in Big Spring, Texas. After Victoria graduated from San Angelo Lake View high school in 2012, she began her studies at Angelo State University.
In 2012, Victoria met Ramiro Ortiz in San Angelo. Victoria and Ramiro went on to have two lovely daughters, Kataleya and Kylie Ortiz. Victoria and her family started their journey in Killeen, Texas, Hawaii, and Phenix City, Alabama while Ramiro was serving active duty in the United States Army.
In October 2019, Victoria began to serve her country as well by joining the United States Army. She graduated from basic training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Victoria attended Advanced Individual Training for 35F Intelligence Analyst training in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, and graduated at the top of her class with honors.
Upon completion of her training in June 2020, she was assigned to Fort Benning 1-28th IN, 1ABCT, 3ID. She served in the S2 as a Security Manager and conducted administrative duties while addressing personnel security issues.
In December 2021, even with a busy military training schedule she pursued her higher-level education and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management from American Public University Systems.
Between January 2022 and May 2022, Victoria graduated from the Army Common Facility Development Instructor Course and Intelligence Analyst Course.
In May 2022, Victoria was promoted to Sergeant and shortly after made the Commandant's list to attend the Basic Leaders Course. Upon completing this training, she received the Distinguished Honors Graduate and was selected by her peers as the Course Leadership Awardee.
Victoria was currently going through the Army Airborne Cadet Training and was due to graduate on January 20th, 2023. Her long-term goal was to become a Warrant Officer and obtain a second bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security. During her honorable military service, Victoria was the recipient of the Army Accommodation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, and Certificate of Achievement.
Victoria grew from a quiet shy little girl into an over-the-top softball player earning her several awards to include defensive player of the year in high school. She was also passionate about Grappling, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which led her to win several MMA fights in Hawaii. Victoria had a love for animals to include horses and sea animals, with her favorite being the Orca whale.
As a soldier, and Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Victoria was also a devoted wife, mother, sister, and daughter that will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Ramiro Ortiz, children Kataleya and Kylie Ortiz, parents Carlos and Martha Diaz, sister Veronica M. Jaeger, brother-in-law Blake Jaeger and nephew Aziel Jaeger.
All are welcome to join us at the rosary for Victoria that will be held Friday, January 27, 2023, at 7:00 PM at Johnson's Funeral Home, 435 West Beauregard Avenue, San Angelo, Texas. A funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 20 East Beauregard Avenue, San Angelo, Texas.
