On Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 62 years of age, our beloved Samuel Garces Fuentes was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born May 19, 1959 in San Angelo, TX to Armando D. Fuentes and Hortencia Tina Garces. Samuel attended Overfelt High School in San Jose, California and graduated in the class of 1977. Samuel had numerous nieces and nephews, and a special Godson who loved him dearly. He was a proud member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) and had a passion for volunteering and helping people. Samuel will always be remembered for his good nature and friendliness. Everyone who met Sam loved him. Samuel was also known for his collection of antiques.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Armando Fuentes; Stepmother, Elvira Fuentes; Maternal Grandparents, Felix and Vica (Buela) Garces; Paternal Grandparents, Francisco and Natividad Fuentes and several Aunts and Uncles. Those left to cherish his memory are his Mother, Hortencia Tina Garces; Brothers, Frank R. Fuentes and wife Norma and Armando J. Fuentes and wife Elizabeth; Sister, Annabelle Nelson and husband Chad; Nieces and Nephews, Eleazar Fuentes and wife Marlo, Richard Fuentes, Armando Fuentes and wife Corina, Nichole Hernandez and husband Patrick and Isaiah Fuentes; Great Nieces and Nephews, Kiona, Desiree, Alianna, Sophia, Isabelle, Ava, Caleb, Athena and Kinleigh.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2022 in the Chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment to follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Eleazar Fuentes, Richard Fuentes, Armando Fuentes III, Isaiah Fuentes, Patrick Hernandez and Abel Orona. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Fuentes and Armando J. Fuentes.
