Roger was born on December 24, 1940 in San Angelo, Texas to Mary Flores and Roger Reyes Cuellar, Sr. He attended Central High School and graduated in the class of 1958. After graduation, Roger joined the Army, where he proudly served for several years. He married Jessie Pena on May 11, 1963 and the couple welcomed 7 children into the world. They remained together until Jessie's passing in 2023.
Roger was a proud member of Primera Iglesia Bautista and had an unshakeable faith. He will also be remembered for his witty and charming personality, love of golf, savvy business skills, and his love for his pet, Chiva. Roger's legacy of faith, love, and wit will continue to live on through his beloved family. He will be dearly missed.
Roger was preceded in passing by his parents, Mary and Roger Cuellar, Sr; the love of his life, Jessie Cuellar; and his son, Fred Ontiveros, Sr.
Left to cherish Roger's memory are his children, Henry Ontiveros and wife Lucy, Rudy Cuellar and wife Carol, Eddie Ontiveros, Jeanelle Ramirez and husband Johnny, Jennifer Cuellar and partner Evelyn Hutcherson, and Jeffrey Cuellar. Also left are his siblings, Eddie Cuellar, Alice Estrada, Virginia Flores, and Oscar Flores; grandchildren, Leticia Montez and husband David Pacheco, Brian Montez, Jon Montez, Christopher Ontiveros, Lisa Marie Laviguer-Dorsey, Mariah Luna, August Luna, Justin Cuellar, Crystal Cuellar, Rudy Cisto Cuellar, Freddy Ontiveros, Jr., Espi Ontiveros-Castello, Marina Ontiveros, Andrea Aleman, and Tomi Jo Garza; numerous great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends.
A celebration of Roger's life will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Primera Iglesia Bautista.
In lieu of flowers, the Cuellar family asks that you make a memorial donation to Hospice of San Angelo in Roger's name.
The family would also like to thank Hospice of San Angelo, Kaylee Williams (Case Manager / Charge Nurse), Allison Kurck (RN), Whitney Powell (Admissions Nurse), Katy Kissko (Social Worker), and Angela Gutierrez (RN) for the compassion and care they shared with Roger during his hospice journey.
