Rodessa Lee Vick (Dorris) Shelton, 91, of San Angelo, Texas, took her final breath on May 25, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. Rodessa was born on January 17, 1930 at Miles, Texas. She was married to William (Bill) R Dorris for 64 ½ years. She is survived by 3 sons, Danny Lee Dorris and wife, Barb, Robert Duwain Dorris and wife, Jan, and Richard Eugene Dorris and wife, Waverly. She is also survived by 1 brother and 5 sisters, numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, as well as a number of special nieces and nephews. Also, special friends, Jim and Katrina Ross and Larry and Carolyn Paddock.
She married Norman Lewis Shelton December 20, 2014 and had 6 ½ wonderful years together. Through this marriage, she gained 4 additional children: Teresa Shelton, Pat Shelton, Linda Gellman, and Tim Shelton, along with numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Hinton Lee Vick and Nina Odessa Vick, her first husband, William (Bill) Robert Dorris, son, Randy Dale Dorris, sister, Melva Sue Henson and several other family members.
Rodessa was always actively involved with her family and community. She loved serving others through cooking and sewing as well as ministering through the Immanuel Baptist Church. Working in the yard was a favorite hobby. She loved sports attending baseball and basketball games and played golf until she was 88 years old. As an archer she took 2nd place at state one year. She also enjoyed deer hunting with her family.
Rodessa worked at Ethicon for 23 years and after retiring, she drove cars for 2 dealerships for 25 years. She gained a number of special friends from driving.
Visitation will be from 7:00-9:00 PM Friday, May 28, and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 29, at 10:00 AM, both at Johnson’s Funeral Home at 435 W Beauregard Ave in San Angelo. The service will also be live-streamed on the Johnson’s Funeral Home Facebook page.
