Robert (Bob) Lorenz, 82 of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 16, 2013. A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Mitchell officiating. There will be a catered reception prior to the service at 3:00 p.m.
Bob was born on September 9, 1930 in Honolulu, Hawaii where he grew up with an extended family of Aunties, Uncles and Cousins. After Pearl Harbor was bombed, he left the island with his mother and father to Morgantown, West Virginia. He eventually ended up in Kittery, Maine where he met his wife of 60 years, Bernice (Bunny) Taylor. After joining the Air Force, he traveled the world with their five children serving his country. He retired from the Air Force 23 years later and settled in Lakeland, Florida.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife Bernice and their youngest daughter Theresa. He is survived by his children: son Robert Lorenz, Jr. of Vernon, NY and daughters Brenda (Robert) Krause of Colorado Springs, CO, Mary (Paul) Engle of Palo Verdes Estates, CA, Dorothy (Doug) Paton of Colorado Springs, CO, and Keely Lorenz of San Angelo, TX. He was “Opa” to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bob never met a stranger and enjoyed rooting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. Special “Thank You” to WTMA’s ICU as they were a great comfort to him and his family.
