Rick was a graduate of Pittsburg High School, class of 1967 and in that same year began his over 30 year career with GTE. On November 3, 1967, Rick was married to his high school sweetheart, Brenda Faulkner. Rick proudly served with the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile) from 1968 to 1970, serving a tour in Vietnam before returning to work at GTE.
Rick was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, a passion he shared with his two sons. He enjoyed mentoring children and youth and his church home was Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. Rick also enjoyed sports and helped coach his sons’ teams. He was an avid fan of the University of Texas and Dallas Cowboys.
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends for his wit, sense of humor, leadership and service.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his son, Brian; brother Roy and his wife Nancy; sister-in-law Nena Faulkner; daughter-in-law Heather-Dawn; five grandchildren: Emily, Blake, Robby, Madi and Hannah.
He was preceded in death by his son Chris.
Viewing will be at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas, on Friday, August 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with funeral service on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. also at Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Those we love are never truly gone and Rick will always live in the cherished memories of those with whom he lived, loved, worked and served.
