Pedro Ortega Chapa lived admirably, dedicated to great faith, service and loyalty; his humor consistently brightened the hearts and faces of everyone who had the honor of knowing him. He was born in to a big family in Azucar, Mexico on August 25, 1934. Pete moved to San Angelo as a child and graduated from Central High School. For many years, he worked as a Barber, though, he was also a compassionate community leader and had a deep love for fishing, boxing, and music. In accordance to his servant’s heart were his countless efforts and involvement with the Boys Club, American G.I. Forum, LULAC, Jaycees, Lion’s Club, Toast Masters, and the Chamber of Commerce. He passed on January 2, 2017, but his spirit of love lives on through his wife of 53 years: Margie, their four children: Peter, Robin, Cathy Brown and Gina, his four grandchildren: Michael, Kristin, Bailey and Brandi, four great-grandchildren: Fontaine, Evan, Easton, and Brooklyn and his nine brothers and sisters. Pete never met a stranger nor usurped an opportunity to be a friend or lend a hand. The most fitting way to honor him is do something kind for someone. Take somebody food, give someone a ride, provide someone with comfort, tell a corny joke or give a big hug. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 5th from 5:00-8:00pm, and the service will be held at Johnson’s Funeral home on Friday, January 6th at 2:00pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 5:00pm. Arrangements under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home, San Angelo, TX.
